A Message from Pastor Dana Goodnough

mem-ber (noun; Latin: membrum) 1. a limb or other part of a person, animal, or plant 2. a distinct part of a whole 3. any of the persons constituting an organization or group.

That's how my little "Webster's New World Dictionary" in my desk drawer defines "member". (I've had this little dictionary since I was a kid, so it has historical value!)

The Bible says that we are members of the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:27 is an example. "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." The analogy is obvious - the application is sometimes elusive. As members of the body, we each have important functions to fulfill. Our health depends on it! But application...? We must each apply ourselves to service within the body. What does God want you to be doing within the local body, Pittsford Community Church? There are plenty of opportunities for service. Just let me or a deacon know of you interest, and we'll help you find God's place of service at PCC.

You become a member of Christ's body when you accept Christ. Why not become a member of the local body? Just fill out an information sheet and send it to the church office. (Information sheets are available in the church hallway, here on this website, or phone or email the church office.) We'll be glad to take it from there. Membership in the local body is a great way to show your allegiance to the overall body of Christ.

Questions to consider:
  • Do you regularly attend Pittsford Community Church?
  • Have you accepted Jesus as you Lord and Savior?
  • Do you consider PCC your church family?
  • Do you consider the people at PCC as your brothers and sisters in Christ?
  • Do you care about them and are you committed to them? (i.e.: to pray for, to encourage, and to help them as needed?)
  • Have you read the Articles of Faith, and if so, do you agree with them?
If you've answered "yes" to these questions and haven't yet joined the church membership, you are missing out on the joy and responsibility of helping care for and protect the body of Christ at Pittsford Community Church.

Remember, this is a congregationally led church. Your input and vote as a believer are important. Why not become a member? Don't put it off. Please pick up an Information Sheet with the Articles of Faith. If your have any questions, contact us.

If you agree with the Articles of Faith and would like to become a member, call one of our pastors or the church office. We will be glad to set up an appointment for you to share your salvation experience and complete the membership process.

The PCC Membership Application form along with the PCC Articles of Faith can be obtained by following the links or you may find them on the bulletin board outside the church office. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the files. This useful plugin is available for free from http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html.
