Student Ministries

What differentiates the PCC Student Ministries from others?

First the Student Ministries at PCC is a discipleship-based ministry. What that means is that at the heart of everything we do you’ll find an emphasis on the Word of God. Everyone knows how much youth love to play and be together. And while we strive to offer exciting opportunities to be together on a regular basis, we also know that the teen’s peers – and even the leaders – don’t hold the answers to life’s toughest issues. While we don’t know all the answers, we do know the Answer. We strive to make Jesus Christ – as revealed in the pages of scripture and through His Holy Spirit – the center of our purposes for being here.

Secondly, PCC Student Ministries is a family-based ministry. This is really a two-fold concept. First we feel that the family is still the most influential and crucial element to a growing youth’s Christian development. Therefore we strive to design our programs with the parents in mind and make almost every event ‘parent friendly’. We strive to operate PCC student ministries as an extended family, knowing that the more ‘aunts’ and ‘uncles’ in the faith our students have, the better equipped they are to face the evils of this fallen world. The last thing a youth with a struggling family life needs is to be isolated from loving, caring adults. The more parents and other positive adult influence we can provide, the better for everyone.

Our regularly scheduled events include: Sunday school, youth groups, youth worship team, social activities, missions trips, retreats and small group Bible studies.

Letter to Parents

As I look forward to each year I feel it is appropriate to let you in on a little secret of mine - basically, I believe in the Word of God. (Boy, does that sound holy or what?) No, really, I do. I believe it to be the foundation for both evangelism and discipleship. I believe it is the power to lead people to Christ and the power to keep them connected to the Vine. I believe it to be the key ingredient to eternal life, as well as the road to the best life down here on earth. I believe in the Word. Stated another way, I don't believe in much of what present-day youth ministry has become. I don't believe that if we give a bunch of lukewarm kids enough lukewarm activities through their lukewarm years that they will somehow become red-hot disciples (see Revelation 3:15-17). And, I believe that disciple-making is what I'm called to do. So, we're a bit more focused now on what really matters - God. Not that the other stuff doesn't matter, but we need to pick our battles. My weapon is God's Word...
