Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Discipleship is at the heart of Pittsford Community Church’s mission. Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:28-29).

In addition to church attendance, small groups provide a valuable setting for you to grow in discipleship. In a small group you’ll be able to grow in your understanding of God’s Word, build relationships with others, find support for your own spiritual journey, and develop a caring and serving network of friends. Pittsford Community Church offers a variety of discipleship groups to help you grow in your faith.

Discovery Groups provide an opportunity for those who want to explore the claims of Jesus Christ and the Bible in order to make an informed faith decision.

Foundation Groups will help you become established in the basic truths of the Bible.

Impact Groups are designed to challenge growing Christians to reach even deeper levels of spiritual maturity.

Praise and Ministry Groups offer a setting for you to develop ministry skills and participate in prayer and ministry with others.

Discovery Groups

Exploring the Basics of Christian Faith—a four-part study for those who are new to Pittsford Community Church—meets periodically. Contact Pastor Dana Goodnough (248-8260).
Exploring the Basics of Church Membership—a four-part study of PCC’s history, mission, beliefs, and service opportunities—meets periodically on Sundays, 10:00 AM. Contact Robert Fujimura (425-9455).

Foundation Groups

Jr. & Sr. High Youth Groups —meet Friday nights, 7-9 pm at various locations. Contact Marc Porpilia (248-8260).

Impact Groups

Men's Groups:
Men's Sunday night Bible Study – Meets at Various locations from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Meeting weekly except the Last Sunday of the Month-we go to support Victor Community Church. Contact Jim Pond 381-4916.
Men's Thursday Morning Bible Study – "For guys getting to know Jesus better". Thursdays 9:45am at Church in Fireside Room . Currently studying Ezekiel. Come and join this study for men. Contact John Overhauser 223-6525.

How to Join a Discipleship Group

If you’re ready to move forward in your relationship with God, or simply want to explore a more meaningful relationship with God, take a look at the current discipleship groups described in this brochure. Call the group leader for details regarding times and places of meetings. We encourage you to try out one or more groups in order to find the right setting for your spiritual growth.

You may also want to call the church office at 248-8260 in order to find out if a new group is in the process of forming. In fact, you may want to initiate the start-up of a new group to help meet a specific need.

How to Become a Discipleship Group Leader

If you would like to consider leading a discipleship group, you may set up an appointment with a member of the pastoral staff. The pastors and other church leaders can help you develop the skills necessary for leading a group and identify potential members for your group. Or, if you are willing to open your home to host a discipleship group, contact the church office.

Keynote Speakers

Elizabeth George

Elizabeth George is an author, teacher and speaker. Her ministry is dedicated to teaching other women the Bible in a way that changes their lives. For more than 20 years Elizabeth was privileged to teach and develop Bible curriculum for the Every Woman's Grace ministry at Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, California. She also taught regularly in the women's tract at the Logos Bible Institute at Grace Church. Her Bible teaching and training also includes teaching the wives of seminary students at both Talbot Theological Seminary and The Master's Seminary where her husband Jim taught and served as Dean of Admissions and Placement.

Great Musicians

Lori Jean Smith (Violinist):

She began her musical studies with piano at the age of five and violin at the age of seven under the instruction of her mother, Kathryn Rodgers. She received a Bachelors Degree in performance from Cedarville University, followed by a Master of Music Degree from the University of Utah. Lori made her first recording in 1999, entitled 'Memoirs of the Soul. She has traveled with Christian recording artist Steve Green since March of 2005, and just released her second project, entitled 'Sanctuary. She has also published two books of poetry, 'musings' and 'musings two'.

Amy Felt (Pianist):

Amy fell in love with the Lord and piano early in life. Her passion to know and love her God has always been intermingled with her passion for music. A graduate of Cedarville University, Amy thoroughly enjoys speaking and performing at a variety of church and private events.

Paul's Letters to the Churches

During this 10 week study we will cover Pauls' letters to the churches. Paul's Letters to the Churches were sent to seven churches scattered throughout Asia Minor, Greece, and Rome. These churches were in different stages of maturity and all needed instruction from the great apostle. Paul took the great truths of life, death, resurrection, and return of Jesus Christ and explained and applied them for these newly established centers of Christian worship and witness. Though each letter has its own flavor and emphasis, each uniquely continues the great picture of our great God, with incredible purpose and application for our lives today.
