Pittsford Community Church began as a dream in the hearts of a number of Christians who sensed a need for an evangelical church in the town of Pittsford. Under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. W. Millar Crawford, Pittsford Community Church held its first services in 1983. The church secured the services of
Dana L. Goodnough in 1985 to assist Pastor Crawford. Eventually Pastor Goodnough was ordained and took on the role of pastor when Pastor Crawford retired in 1990. Early meetings were held at St. John Fisher College. God wonderfully provided property for this fledgling church at 421 Marsh Road where, in 1991, it completed its first building phase and began holding worship services and Vacation Bible School outreaches. The church continued to grow in number steadily over the years. In 1999 the church brought
Rev. N. David Sanford on board as Assistant Pastor (now Associate Pastor) and in 2010
Chris Arcadi became Director of Student Ministries. As the church grew, so did the need for additional educational space. In 2003 the church completed the expansion of the building by adding a Family Life Center along with 13 classrooms, a prayer room, a library, and a kitchen. Plans are beginning for further addition of worship space as the congregation continues to grow. Along with the growth in numbers, the church has grown in spiritual depth through Sunday School classes, Discipleship Groups, and short term mission opportunities. God has graciously continued to strengthen lay leaders and workers as well as to raise up missionaries and career church leaders from within the church. By God’s grace, we’ll continue to grow and to go!
