Rev. Dave Sanford - Associate Pastor

Rev. David SanfordPastor Dave Sanford joined the ministry staff at Pittsford Community Church in 1999. Dave’s ministry at PCC includes design and leading of our worship services and special events, and leadership of our Praise Team and Choir. His ministry also includes an emphasis in counseling and pastoral care. As with all of the pastoral staff, Dave is called to serve in any area of ministry as needed. He also enjoys any opportunity for teaching and preaching.

The Lord called Dave into pastoral ministry “later in life.” Following many years in police work on eastern Long Island, then many years as a truck driver, Dave entered full-time ministry in 1986, at age 35. He served two churches as solo pastor prior to his call to the “team ministry” at Pittsford Community Church. Dave’s educational experience includes undergraduate study at Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio, and graduate and seminary studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

Born and raised in Southampton, New York, Dave met his wife and best friend, Karen, at college. It was during their college years that they realized their need for a personal relationship with Jesus, and both gave their hearts and lives to Him in 1970. Married in 1973, they “praised the Lord that we could enter into a holy marriage with Jesus as head and center of our relationship.”

Karen and Dave have totally enjoyed giving their lives to the worship and praise of God, serving as church music ministry leaders since 1975. They have three grown children: Jennifer [married to Ben], Wesley, and Allison [married to Steve]; four grandchildren: Emma, Grace, Benjie and Callie; all living within a three-hour drive of Rochester.

Pastor Dave and Karen find great joy in serving the Lord in whatever way He directs. Dave’s life verse is found in Jeremiah 29:11 + : “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…. You will seek Me and find me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord.”

It is the desire of Dave’s heart that, as God allows His amazing grace to work through his life, the saving love of our Savior, Jesus, would be “found” by many people.
